Shipping Policy
Welcome to Capital Automotive Equipment. Please review our shipping policy carefully before placing an order.
1. Shipping Coverage
Capital Automotive Equipment ships throughout the contiguous United States (Lower 48 states).
Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and other non-contiguous U.S. locations may be available upon request. Please contact our customer service team for a custom freight quote before placing your order.
International shipping may be available for select products. Customers are responsible for all applicable customs duties, tariffs, taxes, brokerage fees, and import charges.
2. Order Processing & Shipping Times
All orders must be paid in full prior to shipment.
Orders are typically processed within 2–7 business days after payment is received and verified.
For in-stock items, most orders ship within 2–3 business days. Delivery times vary depending on product availability, destination, and freight carrier schedules.
If an item is temporarily out of stock or on backorder, it will ship as soon as inventory becomes available.
Please note that factors beyond our control, including weather conditions, freight network congestion, port delays, and supply chain disruptions, may affect delivery schedules.
Once your order ships, tracking information will be provided when available.
3. Shipping Methods
Shipping methods are determined by product size, weight, and destination.
Small Package Shipments
Products weighing less than 150 lbs are typically shipped via:
- UPS
- FedEx
- USPS
This method is commonly used for parts, accessories, and smaller equipment.
LTL Freight Shipments
Products weighing more than 150 lbs are shipped via Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) freight carriers to ensure safe transportation.
This includes:
- Automotive lifts
- Tire changers
- Wheel balancers
- Alignment equipment
- Shop equipment
- Heavy machinery
4. Free Shipping
We offer free shipping on select products to eligible U.S. states.
Free shipping is not available in all locations. Eligibility depends on the product and delivery destination.
Please contact us before placing your order to confirm if your location qualifies for free shipping. If your area is not eligible, we will provide you with the best available freight rate.
5. Residential Deliveries
Residential delivery service is available for an additional charge.
Residential Delivery Fee: $150
Residential delivery locations must be accessible by standard freight trucks (typically 40-foot trailers).
Important:
- Liftgate service is not available for automotive lifts.
- Freight carriers do not permit unloading heavy freight by hand.
- A forklift must be available at the time of delivery for large equipment shipments.
- Failure to provide proper unloading equipment may result in redelivery charges.
6. Equipment Unloading Requirements
Customers are responsible for unloading all freight shipments.
For large equipment, including but not limited to:
- Two-post lifts
- Four-post lifts
- Alignment systems
- Heavy shop equipment
A forklift or loading dock is required.
Freight carriers generally allow approximately 30 minutes for unloading.
Additional detention charges may apply if unloading exceeds the carrier's allotted time.

- Equipment assembly
- Equipment installation
An authorized person must be present during the delivery appointment to receive and inspect the shipment.
Missed delivery appointments may result in additional carrier charges and redelivery fees.

Customers may choose pickup at a freight terminal instead of direct delivery.
Benefits include:
- No unloading equipment required at your location
- Terminal personnel typically load equipment onto your trailer
- Convenient scheduling through the freight terminal
Appointments are generally required.
A flatbed trailer is recommended. Freight terminals may not load freight directly into passenger vehicles or pickup truck beds due to safety regulations.
Capital Automotive Equipment will provide terminal location details and pickup instructions when applicable.
10. Accessory Shipments
Accessories shipped together with qualifying equipment may ship free of charge.
Accessories, replacement parts, and equipment valued under $700 may be shipped separately via UPS, FedEx, USPS, or common carrier and are subject to actual shipping charges based on size, weight, and destination.
11. Shipping Address Accuracy
Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate shipping information.
If an address correction or delivery change is requested after the shipment has been scheduled or dispatched, additional carrier fees may apply.
Any resulting delays are the responsibility of the customer.
12. Storage Fees
Freight carriers may charge storage fees if shipments are not accepted or picked up within the carrier's designated holding period.
Any storage fees incurred are the sole responsibility of the customer.
13. Shipment Inspection
Customers must thoroughly inspect all shipments before signing the delivery receipt or Bill of Lading (BOL).
Do not sign for a shipment until it has been inspected for:
- Visible damage
- Missing parts
- Missing packages
- Signs of mishandling
If damage or shortages are discovered:
- Clearly note all damage or shortages on the delivery receipt.
- Take detailed photographs of the packaging and affected items.
- Retain all original packaging materials.
- Contact Capital Automotive Equipment within 24 hours of delivery.
Failure to properly document damage at delivery may result in denial of freight claims by the carrier.
Please note that disposable steel shipping frames and packaging materials are not considered part of the product. Cosmetic damage to shipping frames alone is not considered freight damage.
14. Damaged Shipments & Freight Claims
If a shipment arrives visibly damaged:
- Refuse the shipment, or
- Clearly document all damage on the delivery receipt before signing.
- Customers must submit:
- Photos of the damaged product
- Photos of the packaging
- Photos of the product identification plate (if applicable)
Claims for freight damage or missing parts must be reported within 24 hours of delivery.
Failure to properly note damage on the delivery receipt may invalidate any freight claim.
15. Order Cancellations
Orders may be cancelled before shipment. A 5% processing fee will apply to cover non-refundable payment processing charges.
Once an order has been shipped or scheduled with a freight carrier, cancellation is no longer possible and the order will fall under the return conditions below.
Deposits for special-order or custom equipment are non-refundable.
16. International Orders
For international shipments, the customer is solely responsible for:
- Customs duties
- Import taxes
- Tariffs
- Brokerage fees
- Port charges
- Government fees
Any unpaid import-related charges may be billed to the payment method used for the original order.

While we coordinate transportation services through third-party carriers, responsibility for freight transportation remains with the carrier.
Customers are responsible for:
- Inspecting deliveries upon arrival
- Properly documenting damage
- Filing freight claims when required
Capital Automotive Equipment cannot be held responsible for freight damage, shortages, or losses that were not properly documented on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery.
